Q: What role do you think the United States of America played in reunification?
A: The United States helped out the German people to reunify by providing food and safety from the U.S.S.R. prior to the destruction of the wall of Berlin. They also eased tentions with the U.S.S.R. U.S. presidents from Kennedy to Regan helped the German state to become free and establish their own democracy.
Q: Do you think German reunification was inevitable?
A: Yes, eventually the Russian superpower was goijng to fall, mostly due to small revolutions in the country, and the division of religious and politiocal sects in the Russian provinces and territiories.
Q: Does this celebration remind you of any American celebrations?
A: Yes, of course, our independence day. Our independence day is symbolized by freedom and the way we overcomed an opposing force just like the Germans opposing the Russians.
Q: What do you think it would be like to experience this celebration in Germany?
A: It would be very patriotic. German patriotism has always been strong. Their methods of celebrating may be different, but overall I think I would enjoy the celebrations of their reunification.

The United States put Germany on the path to unification. Without American resoluteness displayed over the decades and by out presidents help unification would have only been a dream for them.
Yes, I think it was inevitable because the whole prcess went on for so long and a lot would have had to be done in order to avoid everything that happened. I still think even if they tried to avoid it, there would have been other problems anyway.
Yes, German Unification Day is like July 4th for us because the states came together & all got along & came to an agreement just like they did on the Unification Day in Germany
I think experiencing the Unification Day in Germany would be a big deal. It wasnt too long ago that all this went along & i think that the people probably get really into it. I think that it would be a big celebration for Germans.
I think the unification of Germany is wonderful. How awful would it be to have relations who were close to you and then suddenly never be able to see them again because of some communist wall? Though I do think German reunification was inevitable, the process would have been much slower without help from other countries. I think the US probably offered sincere encouragement towards reunification of Germany along with financial aid and military strength, or am I thinking of a time before this? We had democracy, like West Berlin, and I think Germans on the other side thought that would be much more preferable… It reminds me of Independence Day, July 4 here. We gained freedom from England way back in the 18th century and are able to celebrate the new, fabulous, self-identity of America away from the controlling hands of Britain. Is this similar in any way to German Unity Day? It would feel great to experience this German celebration and righteous to be able to think back to when Germany was first united and be all, “Yeah, that’s when Germany united, and now we rock!” The sense of identity and freedom would be intensely powerful.
1. What role do you think the United States of America played in reunification?
I think that with NATO and other organiztions the United States helped reunification because if it wasn’t for the United States, Germany may have never been reunited or it may have taken much longer.
2.Do you think German reunification was inevitable?
After i looked up inevitable, I think that eventually, yes, German would have been reunited because the way the world is today, i think that eventually the United States would have stepped in anyways, and along with other nations to control that.
3.Does this celebration remind you of any American Celebrations?
A little bit of September 11th attacks and how after them the country became more patriotic and more as a whole. It also sort of reminds me of Independence Day and the adoption of the Declaration of Independence because there is always a large celebration with gatherings of people every 4th of July and fireworks.
4. What do you think it would be like to experience this celebration in Germany?
I think it would be very powerful, and to finally get to the other side of Germany, when youve been stuck for so long. I can imagine what a huge celebration it would be, its like finally becoming free. Being able to see friends or even relatives that you couldn’t before just because of the wall.
1)The United States played a role in the reunification of Germany because we helped by setting an example because our country once went through a period during the civil war when we were separated. The US also helped to create Germany’s government.
2)German reunification was inevitable because so many people in the two separated regions of Germany did not want to be separated and many Germans began leaving the country when they got the chance.
3)This celebration reminds me of July 4th in American because on July 4th we celebrate our country and in Germany they celebrate their country being together as one again.
4)I think this celebration would be enjoyed by mostly everyone in the country and the citizens of Germany would be very patriotic and excited to celebrate this day.
Q: What role do you think the United States of America played in reunification?
A: I think the role that the United States played was the model of which Germany could base off of. The US was resolute during the Cold Wars as well.
Q: Do you think German reunification was inevitable?
A: Yes, eventually the people would rise up and rebel like the American colonists to get what they want.
Q: Does this celebration remind you of any American celebrations?
A: Yes, the forth of July. America split from their oppressors and received their freedom like Germany did on reunification day.
Q: What do you think it would be like to experience this celebration in Germany?
A: It would be patriotic, including fireworks and much flag waving. Since the reunification is fairly recent, people that were around when reunification originally happened would inform younger citizens how the glorious event came around.
Our Government helped Chancellor Helmut Kohl to have a peaceful transition during the unification process. George H W Bush has met with Kohl many times to make sure that this happened.

2 Yes, eventually the country would break out in a civil war. Therefor, destroying the country.
3 Yes, independence day because like us defeating Britain they in a way defeated Russia.
4 I think that it would be not very different that ours
in America. there would probably be cookouts lots of flags.
1. Without the presidents speaking to the people of Germany and having a firm belief that Germany should be unified, they may never have wanted to unify into one country again.
2. I believe that the unification was going to happen no matter what, you can’t live peacefully and happily when you suddenly become split as a nation, it was bound to happen one way or another
3. Yes, July 4th, seeing as it’s a celebration of being our own country, which is similar to Unity Day, where they celebrate being their own, complete (unified) nation… although they still really aren’t too similar of holidays.
4. I think experiencing Unity day would have been an overwhelming feeling of joy, having a feeling that your own nation is no longer split over political matters that people may not have agreed with in the first place.

America helped with the democratic process.

3. Does this celebration remind you of any American celebrations?
Independence Day
4. What do you think it would be like to experience this celebration In Germany?
It would be a very happy and peaceful day.
I am very glad the Two halfes of germany were united together with the falling of the wall. It was very good for all the people in germany. If I lived in germany i would be very happy because if you had family or close friends on the other side it would be hard to see them, but since the wall has been torn down and the sides are united it is possible.
I believe many countries encouraged the unting of germany because it would be like having two seperate countries being called one. They were completly different though. The countries helped very much with ideas of unifaction and would be like the holiday 4th of July. But in the US we broke free of Britain and in Germany they didnt break free of anyone except the communist government and joined together.
Q: What role do you think the United States of America played in reunification?
A: I think that without the United States’ help throughout the Cold War with things such as the Berlin Airlift and just the overall support from the United States, Germany would not have been unified as early as it was.
Q: Do you think German reunification was inevitable?
A: I believe that German reunification was inevitable eventually because a multitude of people began to change their views, but I feel that the United States helped to make this date much sooner as said above.
Q: Does this celebration remind you of any American celebrations?
A: This reminds me of the Fourth of July, Independence Day.
Q: What do you think it would be like to experience this celebration in Germany?
A: I believe that it would be very similar to celebrating Independence Day in the United States. I believe that there would be a very joyous mood throughout Germany. I would like to experience it for myself though in the future.

What role do you think the United States of America played in reunification?
I think the U.S. played a huge role in the reunification process because we did things like the Berlin Airlift to kind of help the Germans as well as make the communists a little angry.
Do you think German reunification was inevitable?
I don’t think reunification was inevitable because sooner or later, the people of Germany on both sides would eventually become fed up with being a divided country.
Does this celebration remind you of any American celebrations?
This reminds me of the 4th of July mainly because both of these holidays represents the independence of a country.
What do you think it would be like to experience this celebration in Germany?
I think it would be an uforgettable experience to celebrate the independence for a country that was divided for so long.
Just a clarification for many of you who are unsure about the word inevitable. It means that an event was going to happen no matter what other events took place.
